Underkeep is a single-player dungeon crawler: you explore on a grid with four adventurers and fight in turns. Start by learning your party’s abilities, keeping track of unexplored routes and leaving map notes for anything you cannot resolve yet.
Before your first descent
There is no real-time combat timer to race against: the game uses turn-based battles. That makes reading an ability and considering your next action part of the game, rather than a pause in it.
The official description promises a handcrafted world, not procedurally generated runs. Hidden passages, NPCs and puzzles are part of exploration; this is not a speedrun route or a room-by-room walkthrough.

Meet the four adventurers
Read the abilities available to each party member. The developer emphasizes complementary strengths, but has not published a universal best starting lineup in the sources used here.
Take battles one turn at a time
Read your available actions and watch stamina and mana. These are specifically named resources in the official combat description.
Use the automap as a notebook
Mark unresolved doors, puzzles and routes you want to revisit. Custom map markers are an advertised feature.
Keep your route reversible
Steam lists save-anytime support. Save before a long detour if you want an easy way to return; this is an editorial suggestion, not a claim about a specific save key.
How long should you set aside?
The developer’s FAQ estimates 15–20 hours to finish, or around 30 hours when taking time with exploration, puzzles and side quests. These are developer estimates, not a promised completion time.
